Kirkwood Mountain Resort is located atop the Sierra Crest with a geographical advantage that accounts for the lightest and driest snow in the Lake Tahoe region. With an annual snowfall of over 600 inches, it is easy to see why Kirkwood has become synonymous with deep powder skiing and riding. With over 2,300 acres of legendary terrain and an intimate mountain village setting, Kirkwood Mountain Resort provides destination guests a perfect backdrop for an energizing getaway.

Kirkwood has invested over $10,000 in new school features as it revamps its three terrain park layouts with a focus on achieving the perfect blend of progression and flow. The resort has recruited a dedicated staff of experienced individuals to maintain the features and invested in snowcats/machinery specifically designed for terrain park applications. In addition to its three terrain parks and halfpipe, Kirkwood will be constructing a dedicated Skier/Boarder X Course open to the public under Chair 5.

Skier/Boarder Cross Course
Kirkwood will be offering a dedicated Skier/Boarder Cross Course for athlete training and general public use this season. Known as the “snow version of motocross”, Skier/Boarder Cross is slated to become an Olympic Medal Event in 2010. Kirkwood joins only a handful of ski areas in the West to offer such a course and the resort recently purchased specialized machinery for upkeep of the terrain features. The course will be located on the Mokelumne Trail and will be open daily, conditions permitting.

Terrain Parks/Halfpipes
Whether you’d rather take it easy on rollers and banked turns or style out our huge S rail, we have multiple slopestyle features geared towards every riding level. Kirkwood maintains three different terrain parks- The Playground, Adventure Land, and the Stomping Grounds. In addition, Kirkwood has a halfpipe located off of Chair 7.

The Playground
This is the perfect place to start exploring freestyle terrain. Located off Chair 7, The Playground offers the mini jumps, rollers, and low to the snow boxes and rails needed for gaining confidence and skills.

Adventure Land
Located off Chair 9, this gentle park contains plenty of fun features for beginner riders, including banked turns, a ski through tunnel and whoop-de-doos!

Stomping Grounds
Located off Chair 5, the Stomping Grounds offers terrain features designed for a range of ability levels and multiple combinations with great flow. The park has grown, adding new hits, and jibs to keep things live.
